MYP Math Tutor

Connecting Your Child with an Experienced IB Educator

MYP Maths Tuition

A Message from Our Founder

In 2022, I started MYP Math Tutor with a goal: to improve student engagement and understanding in MYP mathematics, focusing on criteria B, C, and D tasks.

We’re currently working with 50+ students, equipping them with the skills needed to excel in MYP mathematics, and also prepare them for the rigours of the IB DP.

What sets us apart? While many tutoring services are provided by college students, our team consists of experienced educators who truly understand the MYP.

The outcome? Our students are confident, have a deep understanding of the MYP, and are enthusiastic about learning math. Student’s aren’t just grasping the four criteria, they’re excelling – many of them scoring 7’s or 8’s across the board.

We’re excited to work with your child to help make MYP maths more straightforward and achievable.

-Rachel Bodily, M.Ed

Founder of MYP Math Tutor | Previously taught at the International School of Amsterdam

I most recently taught and tutored MYP Mathematics at the International School of Amsterdam for several years. In 2014, I moved from the United States to the Netherlands, where I now reside with my husband and two young children.

I strongly believe that with time and self-confidence, anyone can successfully learn mathematics. As a teacher, I am passionate about supporting my students, and my strongest skill is my ability to quickly build rapport with children and teenagers. In my opinion, one-on-one time with a teacher is crucial and key to student improvement and success.

Teaching mathematics has always been my favorite role in the field of education. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies, as well as teaching credentials in High School mathematics and elementary education.

Additionally, I earned a Master’s Degree in Education, am a candidate for the Postgraduate Certificate in International Education at Bath University, and enjoy implementing newly learned teaching strategies. I have completed all professional development courses offered by the International Baccalaureate® (IB) for Middle Years Programme (MYP) mathematics. Furthermore, I am an IB Examiner for MYP Mathematics, and I have experience teaching English as an Additional Language and Learning Support. I am also a MARIO Framework Certified Educator, a Google Certified Trainer, and a former facilitator at the Quantum Learning Network’s SuperCamp.

Currently teaches at Nord Anglia International School, Dublin | Previously taught at the International School of Hamburg

I am a passionate and enthusiastic educator, with 10 years of teaching experience in international schools. I am currently teaching at Nord Anglia International School Dublin, an IB World School, and have helped to get the MYP and DP Mathematics programmes up and running. Prior to this, I taught at the International School of Hamburg in Germany, and Sunway International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As a past varsity athlete, I have a passion for sport and have coached volleyball and track and field throughout my teaching career. I believe that balance in life is so important, and have made sure to make space for travel, hiking, making music, art and baking!

Within my classroom, I am inspired by Jo Boaler’s “Mathematical Mindsets”, a practice that aims to create rich and engaging learning opportunities for students with varying experiences and attitudes towards mathematics. For me, mathematics is about developing a toolbox of problem-solving skills, and then identifying what to do when approaching challenging or unfamiliar problems. In order to develop this toolbox, I aim to create a safe and fun learning environment where we make mindful mistakes and develop critical thinking, confidence and independence.

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Mathematics, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary School Education. I have participated in several IB training courses including MYP and DP Mathematics. I fully believe in the MYP Mathematics framework, and am thrilled to be able to support students on a 1-to-1 basis as they learn and adjust to this new way of thinking.

My philosophy is that all students can learn mathematics with appropriate support, relevant and meaningful experiences, positive attitudes, and motivation. I believe that consistent practice and one-on-one guidance with a passionate and caring teacher nurtures confidence in mathematics. I am proud of my students’ outstanding performance in Analysis and Approaches (Higher Level), with an average higher than the world average. I feel fulfilled when my students enjoy learning mathematics.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree at Angeles University Foundation in the Philippines and my Master’s Degree in Teaching Mathematics at De La Salle University, one of the top universities in Manila. I have completed all IB workshops for both MYP and DP.

Additionally, I am a textbook author in mathematics for high schools in the Philippines, and my new textbooks in Pre-calculus and Basic Calculus are scheduled for publication this year. As an IB examiner, I moderate mathematics internal assessments for DP Mathematics Analysis and Approaches.
